Highlights

  • Discover hidden areas in Dragon’s Dogma 2 with catapults!
  • Unlock secret caves and rare items by using medieval weapons.
  • Don’t overlook the unassuming catapults while exploring the vast world.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s map is huge and with the game only being released in the last week, players will be finding out its secrets for months to come.

Although it isn’t as big as Baldur’s Gate 3, nor anywhere near as long as Larian’s 100 plus hour RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has heaps to offer across its vast landscapes, and players are now finding out a unique way of using in-game weapons to expose hidden areas of its map.

Stealth mode gone wrong!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Players Are Calling Out This “Hilariously Bad” Stealth Quest

One player called it the worst quest they’ve ever done in a game.

Sometimes You Gotta Use What You Can

Just by wandering around Dragon’s Dogma 2’s world, players come across Ballistas and other medieval weaponry like catapults that are mostly designed to take down huge monsters, but one also serves another purpose, as this Arisen has found out. Instead of catapults merely acting as a massive slingshot to fire boulders at dragons, giant trolls and griffins, this siege device can also be used as a way of opening areas of the map that were once hidden.

Twitter user Peppo recently discovered the benefit of using these weapons scattered throughout the game, to the amazement of fans. In the short clip, the player loads up the catapult with a giant rock and then shoots it off into the distance towards a mountain range. As the boulder hits the side of the mountain, a no longer secret cave is revealed that can be entered where a Seeker’s Token as well as a Wakestone shard can be found inside.

Some comments under the video expressed shock at how this discovery was exposed when it was such an easily missable element. “Do you know how many of those I’ve walked past?” Okami13_, stated, while another questioned “How do I still keep learning something new about this game every day even if I have 40 hours in,”

With dozens of these unassuming catapults lying around in Dragon’s Dogma 2, it can only mean even more hidden areas of the map being unveiled. Not only this, but it certainly makes players think about what else they could unearth while out trotting around with their pawns, so the takeaway here is, load those catapults up and get exploring!
